Keto, low-glycemic
Push your fast a little further while maintaining your energy levels and curbing hunger. Our favorite keto, low-glycemic Hot Buttered Latte recipe uses fats that help manage blood sugar levels with a sweetener that reduces calorie intake. This latte is so creamy and smooth, you'd never guess it didn't have milk.
How to make a Hot Buttered Latte
First, brew a batch of coffee using your favorite brew method and Roast28 coffee. Be sure to use the ground dose and water temperature recommended for medium or dark roast for optimal flavor. Our vanilla, hazelnut, and aged Scotch whiskey-flavored Liquid Sunshine coffee adds an additional dimension to the recipe, so please experiment until you find a concoction that appeals to you most.
Add coconut oil and butter
Another thing we like about this recipe is that it is keto, low-carb, low-glycemic, and great for intermittent fasting. Instead of milk or cream, use coconut or MCT oil (quick energy source) and butter (high in calcium and a good part of a low-carbohydrate diet). Both of these fats blend up into a smooth, creamy texture and are the perfect base for a keto coffee or dairy-free latte.
Add monk fruit extract
To sweeten the deal, add a few drops of monk fruit extract. Monk fruit extract doesn't affect blood sugar, is anti-inflammatory, and doesn't have the bitter aftertaste many sweeteners are known for. A dash of salt removes bitterness from dark roast coffee and cinnamon has antioxidant properties while improving insulin sensitivity.
Blend and serve
Turn a dark roast or flavored favorite into a delectable morning routine using the recipe below. Once you've got the mix you like, feel free to experiment with seasonings, coffee flavors, and ingredient brands. (Try Irish, grass-fed butter for dairy-sensitive folks.) Stave off hunger in a way that benefits your body and creates a foundation for better eating throughout the day.
